The most interesting fact about embroidery that I found was that it was used as therapy for soldiers after WW1. (To read more about this go to News - Embroidery as Rehabilitation After WWI - Inspirations Studios)

As a child, my grandmother taught me hand embroidery. My first embroidery success was two strawberry-shaped hot pads, which I have kept to this day. (Pictured) After learning the art, I embroidered a few items, but life happened and the craft which I enjoyed was put on hold. I have started to embroider more in the last few years. Tea towels, terry cloth baby bibs, pillow cases, and jean pockets are my current projects. I have always enjoyed embroidering tea towels for myself for use in the kitchen and for others as gifts. My tea towels are all machine washable and ready to use. When I use them to dry dishes, it brings a smile to my face. For me, embroidery lets me be creative, it is relaxing, and there is always a sense of accomplishment when the embroidered item is complete.
